Have you ever noticed the huge traffic that prevails in commercial kitchen areas? When it comes to a restaurant, hotel, fast food centers, coffee shops the customers are continuous round the clock. With the advancements in flooring types to their sturdiness, markets offer numerous varieties for your flooring needs. The flooring that has to find its way in kitchen areas must be picked carefully as it has to undergo various huff and tuffs from the time it has been installed.

Commercial Kitchen Flooring Basics

The requirements for commercial kitchens vary from residential kitchens. In short commercial kitchen flooring must be:

  • Resistant to slips, wearing, and moisture accumulations
  • Flooring should not be too hard, and non porous
  • Able to absorb sounds making the environment gentle and cozy
  • Cost effective, attractive and long lasting

Health inspectors and quality control officers not only monitor the food quality but also the surrounding and the restaurant flooring.

Invest on the Right Commercial Kitchen Flooring Option

It’s once for all to invest on commercial kitchen flooring. Even new restaurants are provided with limited capital within which are few finest flooring options that could dazzle your kitchens with elegance and are highly durable.

Stone Flooring: Stone flooring is versatile and extremely fashionable as well as traditional. Stone flooring is foot friendly, in summers it is cool and in winter underlying heating systems can be used to warm up the surface. Stone flooring can match any interior design and color. Easy cleaned and managed.
Limitations: Ongoing resealing of flooring is required. Stone flooring is a bit expensive.

Rubber Flooring: Rubber flooring is the admirable option for commercial kitchens. Rubber flooring comes with a cushion quality that provides comfort to the foot with continuous movement in the area for the staff. It comes with brilliant colors and looks quite attractive.
Limitations: Rubber flooring is much more slippery than any other flooring if the spillages are not cleaned regularly. Cleaning agents with acid properties can damage the surface of flooring.

Vinyl Flooring: Vinyl flooring is non-porous and can be easily installed. It comes in both sheet and tiles types. Vinyl flooring is not as smooth as rubber flooring. It is reasonably priced with amazing designs and patterns.
Limitations: Less durable, stains of spillages remains if not cleaned properly giving a dull allure.

Linoleum Flooring: Linoleum flooring is made of natural element that makes it environmental friendly. It improves the aesthetic ambiance. Linoleum comes with beautiful color combinations and is highly durable.
Limitations: They become slipper if not cleaned and maintained properly. It is quite expensive than vinyl flooring.

Due to the commercial grading of flooring types, few flooring options which were previously neglected can be opted now. Even then choosing the right commercial flooring options for kitchens is still not that easy as that of residential kitchens.

Why is selecting commercial kitchen flooring different than residential? A home kitchen should be resistant to slips, moisture build up and stand up to wear and tear too. Are there reasons commercial flooring shouldn’t be used in a home?

I guess it’s pretty important for commercial kitchen flooring to be slip resistant. Being that there are tons of spills a slip resistant floor would be safer for everyone.
