  • Old Rags and Towels 
  • Baking Soda
  • White Vinegar
  • Liquid dish washing agent
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Vinegar

Step By Step Procedure to Clean Pet Stains On Your Carpet:

Step 1: Old Rags and Towels: This is one of the effective ways to get rid of urine stains on your carpet. Use old rags and towels to soak up the stains, the sooner you catch the stain, (preferably while it is still wet) the better result you would get. Place a rag or towel over the wet area and squash using feet/ hands and make it absorb as much as you possibly can. Replace the towel with a dry one while it can no longer absorb any more liquid. Repeat the same until you no longer see any moistness on the carpet.

Step 2: White Vinegar: Vinegar is an economical and a great cleaner for removing pet stains on Carpet. It helps to get rid of lingering odors too. Mix half a cup of vinegar and warm water in equal ratios thoroughly and sprinkle over the entire messy area. Let the area soak for 5- 10 minutes, and then absorb the liquid following the same directions in Step 1.

Note: Before you precede, test a small hidden area to make sure the cleaning solutions/ chemicals won’t cause any adverse effects to the color or the texture of the carpet.

Step 3: Baking Soda: Baking soda is an extremely effective remedy to remove odor. Keep in mind that baking soda should be used only on dry carpets. Wobble the baking soda over the pet stained area. Let it stay over night to refresh the carpet flooring thoroughly and then proceed to the next step.

Step 4: Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) and Dishwasher- Soak the baking soda with a mixture of H2O2 and dish washer liquid. Mix one cup of H2O2 with one and half spoons of dish washer liquid in an empty spray bottle and mix gently. Use an old scrub or tooth brush to squeeze the mixture into the carpet. Let the mixture sit until dry. Ultimately, vacuum to restore the carpets texture.

Tips:

  • The longer you wait to get stain out of the carpet, the harder it will be to get it out. So, act quickly.
  • Avoid walking on the cleaned spot until it get dry completely.

Caution:

  • Do not use H2O2 that is higher than 3% strength (10 volumes) because the stronger the potency and may bleach the carpet.
  • Do follow the instructions on the products while using chemicals as they contain caustic ingredients which may result in damage to the carpet.
  • Wear gloves while using chemicals just to be careful.
