Best way to clean out any dust and dirt is to use a dry mop and clean the tiles. You can even use a vacuum cleaner to clean the floors but never ever use the beater bar attachment as it can scratch your floors. After sweeping you should make sure that the ceramic tiles are damp mopped using cleaners that are recommended by the manufacturers.

One easy way to keep your tile flooring clean is to use water and a mop and clean the floors. In a gallon of water you can mix one cup of vinegar as this will help eliminate any kind of odours in the house. This is the best solution if you do not choose to use harsh chemicals with kids around.

If there is are stubborn stains on your tile flooring, take a soft brush and scrub the floors using a mild detergent. After scrubbing, rinse the area with warm water and wipe it clean with a clean and dry towel.

You must not forget that when installing ceramic tiles, they use grout (white in colour) to keep them together. As time goes by, it can look discoloured and dull. To prevent this from happening you must make sure that it has been sealed with a sealant soon after the installation.

To clean stains on grout use a mix equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water, take a soft brush and apply it on the stain and leave it on for a couple of minutes and then clean with warm water and a soft cloth. You can see that the stains have disappeared making it a easy task to clean the tiles.

Some dos and don’ts that have to be followed when cleaning ceramic tiles:

  • Clean up any spill as fast as you can, this is to avoid staining of the grout.
  • Never use abrasive scrubbers or coarse detergents as it can damage the finish of your tiles.
  • Do not drop heavy weights on your ceramic floors as they can crack or chip.
  • Try not to use bleach very often as it can discolour the colour of the grout.

However, the most important is to clean your ceramic tile floors on a regular basis. With ceramic tiles, beauty is considered to be low on maintenance as it is easy to clean, stain resistant and it is hygienic.

Great advice and thank you! I’ll be sure to do this to my floor come the weekend. For harder spots or areas that haven’t been cleaned a lot, would it be better to hire someone to clean it for me? I know that I can go out and buy chemicals to do so but I don’t know if they will harm the flooring.
