Choosing Carpet Tiles for Your Commercial Installation

Sometimes it can be a challenge finding the perfect flooring choice for your business, but carpet tiles may be just that! Here we will run through some of the basics of carpet tiles, and when you’re done reading, be sure to give us a call. We will work with you to make sure you’re getting the best flooring for your commercial applications.

What exactly are carpet tiles?

Unlike the rolls of broadloom, these are modular squares that come in different sizes (although 18 X 18 and 24 X 24 seem to be the most common), colors, fibers, and patterns, from geometrics to Berbers. You can mix and match them to create your designs.

Commercial carpet tiles are ultra-durable. While we can't say it's completely waterproof commercial flooring, carpet tiles are more resistant to water and moisture than other rugs. Since they are designed mainly for commercial carpet installation, they also have enhanced stain resistance.

Easy installation is a big advantage

There are two methods: peel and stick or full glue-down. Peel and stick are the most popular; as the name implies, there's adhesive on the backing. It's covered with protective paper, so the installer just pulls that off and fits the tile. The full glue-down requires liquid adhesive or paste applied to the subfloor, with the tile then being pressed.

If one tile gets stained or damaged in any way, we can pop it out and replace the damaged tile, not the entire floor. When you think of it in those terms, carpet tiles do have a longer life than broadloom. There's also less waste since people need to buy an entire roll of broadloom when one roll alone won't fit, even when it's off by just a few inches.
