Step 1: Pre-Installation Checks
If your room already has carpet flooring, you would want to remove it before installing the new one. In order to remove the old flooring, start by removing the moldings around the carpet. Then clean it using a vacuum cleaner so that you do not inhale any dust stuck on the flooring. Then, cut the flooring using a utility knife into broad strips so that it becomes easier for you to remove it.In order to remove it, just pick the carpet from one end and start rolling it up. Some people may prefer installing the new carpet flooring over the old one, but we advise against it. Then make sure your room is completely dry and clean and also check the sub-floor for the same.
Next, start installing new trackless stripes close to each other so that the carpet can be installed over it. Make sure that these stripes are facing the wall. Do not install these stripes in front of the doorway.

Step 2: Laying the Underpad
The next thing to do is to lay the underpad layer. Secure it by stapling the floor, use glue in case there is a concrete floor beneath. Put the underpad alongside each other and make sure there are no gaps in between. Once they have been stapled in place, secure them using a duct tape.Step 3: Laying the Carpet
Before laying down the carpet, you need to cut it according to the measurement of the room. Make sure to measure the room alongside the wall to be sure of the size and just to be sure add 6 inches to that measurement. Mark the same measurement on the carpet flooring using a chalk, lay it over the floor and cut the excessive part using the utility knife.Step 4: Seams
If your room is broad, then you might require one more strip of flooring. Follow the exact same process to lay this strip as well. Make sure that the pattern on both the strips is uninterrupted and in alignment to each other.Step 5: Attaching the Carpet
In order to ensure that the carpet stays attached to the floor, use a knee kicker. Place it somewhere near the trackless stripes so that the carpet stretches towards them and they can hold it properly. You could also use a carpet stretcher instead of the knee kicker but it is a lot more time consuming.Step 6: Finishing Up
Using the stair tool, tuck the loose ends of the carpet in between the gaps of trackless strips and the wall. Give one last thorough glance to your handiwork and you are done!Related Blogs
