Steps to Install Porcelain Tiles in Bathrooms
- Measure the Floor: Use a tape measure to determine the amount of tile and backing boards needed for your space.
- Purchase Tiles: Buy the right amount of porcelain tiles in your chosen color at the start to avoid color mismatches and ensure you have enough tiles without excess waste.
- Prepare the Surface: Clean and dry the floor thoroughly. Ensure the surface is smooth, flat, and sturdy enough to support the weight of the porcelain tiles. If the floor is uneven, trim or adjust it until it is level.
- Find the Center Point: Measure and mark the center point of the bathroom floor. Spread adhesive evenly over one quadrant of the floor using a notched trowel.
- Cut and Place Tiles: Cut the tiles with a tile saw as needed. Begin placing tiles from the edge of the surface, pressing them firmly but gently without twisting. Use tile spacers to ensure even spacing between tiles.
- Check the Level: Continuously check that the tiles are level. If any tiles are uneven, add extra adhesive until the surface is level.
- Remove Tile Spacers: Once a quadrant is finished, remove the tile spacers before the adhesive sets.
- Apply Grout: Use a rubber float to fill the gaps between the tiles with grout. Remove excess adhesive with a sponge before it dries on the tiles.
- Repeat the Process: Continue the above steps for the entire surface area to ensure proper tile installation.
- Cure the Tiles: Allow the tiles to set for a week before walking on them or cleaning the floor with a wet mop.
